London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2014 blog

Every season Mother of Pearl marries its sports luxe silhouettes with artistic prints. Autumn/winter '14 sees the turn of New York-based artist and designer Richard Saja. Saja's signature embroidery is a highlight of the collection, starring on covetable swing jackets and neat placket blouses. Smart staples like navy cigarette trousers and a pussy bow blouse punctuated more romantic pieces, www.outlet4luxuryshoes.com/jimmy-choo-c-13.html which reflected the collection's Arts and Crafts movement inspiration. Roll neck, voluminous dresses with ruffled sleeves gave off an almost Victorian vibe. Closer inspection of the intricate print, which appeared on dresses, skirts and jackets in porcelain blue and burnt orange, revealed unicorns and cherubs nestling among the needlework. Whimsical, yet wearable. Sarah Royce-Greensill
2014 has been a great year for the Peter Pilotto boys so far. It's only mid-Feb and already they've won themselves £200,000 from the Vogue Fashion Fund and designed a sell-out collaboration for US super-chain Target. With that fresh in everyone's mind (we even spotted one fashion ed sitting FROW in one of their Target creations), there was always going to be a lot of anticipation and high expectations for their autumn/winter 2014 collection. Thankfully, they didn't disappoint. This was a collection to satisfy all of their existing fans (think Diane Kruger and all those street style mavens) and win them a whole new bunch too. Their signature bold prints - this time mountain vistas - were in full force but interspersed with beautiful, simple evening pieces; a silver sequinned dress beneath a graphic cobalt, brown and black patterned coat stood out.
Another winner was a strapless gown with a full bell skirt (a bit Dior) that was, upon closer inspection, printed with repeats of dancing cheerleaders that from affair could easily be mistaken for a floral print (clever). This little number would certainly look right at home on an awards season red carpet, a channel the creative duo have not yet really tapped into.

Embellishment was key too, with small, slate-like pieces of colour dappled over much of the collection and giving a couture-like feel.
