of hipsterdom - it's "oversaturated and sold out", apparently - but for east London-based label House of Hackney, it's still ripe for riffing.

Their latest collection in collaboration with ASOS, entitled 'Dalston Tart', is inspired by east London girls - all skimpy tartan slip www.piumino138.net dresses, ripped jeans, and louche velvet dungarees.

"As a London-based label we're really passionate about our surroundings," says the House of Hackney founder, Frieda Gormley. "I particularly love the grungy Dalston girls, and the fashion students who live in the area, who provide continuous inspiration. East London is still a really exciting place to be, a melting pot of different cultures, people and music. The gentrification of Hackney isn't the death of east London. Having lived here for over 15 years it has been amazing to see how it has changed and evolved."

ASOS was a natural collaborator for the 18-piece collection. "We feel like the House of Hackney handwriting is perfect for the ASOS girl so there wasn't much to adapt in terms of aesthetic," says Gormley. The punky details came naturally, too. "I've always been a bit of a punk and we've wanted to work with tartan for some time now. I really like the grunge-girl look - I'm always wearing House of Hackney boots teamed with a dress."
